Better check again Fat Phil!
I don’t know where you are folks, but today, Groundhog Day, February 2, 2013 I woke up and saw 6 inches of fresh snow on the ground.
And the temperature was about 15 degrees outside! Fahrenheit!
Apparently, if Punxsutawney Phil DOES NOT see his shadow we can expect an early spring.
Today, he DID NOT see his shadow.
So early spring weather is predicted.
It amazes me that with all the weather mapping technology we have, and with the weathermen and women on TV getting the day-to-day forecast wrong so often, we should be fascinated by whether or not a rodent sees his shadow.
Now, if you want to see something really amazing to come from this quaint tradition, you don’t need to look any farther than the movie by the same name starring Bill Murray.
The movie, “Groundhog Day” starring Bill Murray is about a news reporter who goes to a small town to report on the Groundhog Day ceremony but gets stuck in some sort of time warp.
Everyday, he wakes up and the day is the same as the one before. He comes to know everything that will happen that day in advance. It makes for some great comedy opportunities as Bill gets bored with the whole deal and looks to make each day more interesting by adding his own personal touches.
Anyway, I won’t ruin the ending for you, but DO watch this movie. It is really funny!
Well, I’d love to stay and chat…but I’ve got to get outside to make a giant snow fort and hurl some giant snowballs before this early spring hits.
I wish I new if spring was coming tonight or maybe tomorrow.
Maybe I’ll grab hold of a squirrel tomorrow morning and see what he thinks!
Robby “Chillin’ in this Early Spring” OUT!
No… literally…I’m going outside to play!
It’s the weekend!
